Hey, everyone. So Bioware has announced that these are going to be available next Tuesday (the 12th of June) but has not yet released information on origin OR destination servers.

As far as The Vanguard goes, I cannot help but notice our general lack of active population in the guild as well as on Shien. It's hard to watch people stop logging in because there's nothing to do, but sadly I have little to no control over such a thing as motivation to play and server population.

I also understand that the moments the floodgates open, it is a tempting and exciting proposal to shift your favourite character over to a more popular server in order to start playing once again. I'd like to remind everyone of the pitfalls of this course of action (e.g., transfer queues, possible bugs introduced with a brand new system, the unguaranteed destination server, etc.) and would implore you to wait. If you have been seriously considering transferring, I will not stop you, but I ask you to please wait a week, and see how things work out.

Lots of things can happen in a week. Shien might not even be a viable origin server, but it can be one of the more popular RP destination servers. It's impossible to predict, and I assure you that right now your hope is purely based on a 'grass-is-greener' paradigm, as there is no way at all to predict what happens.

After about a week, the massive numbers of moves will die down and we should be able to accurately predict the direction of Shien. If there is a massive influx of players on our humble little server, I'd like to stay and remain a healthy and influential RP presence here, as one of the 'founding' guilds. If Shien becomes even more desolate than it is now, on the week of Monday, June 18th I will officially open the discussion of server relocation as a guild - if it is an option.

Thank you for your patience, guys. I'd like to get things rolling again once people come back from breaks and 1.3 makes grouping easier, so for those of you still interested in being a part of the Vanguard, I welcome your support.

As being one of those people in the "mirialans are always greener on the other side" club.

I think what Jet said right there makes the most logical sense. And I deffinatly think we should wait, and not all try to rush it right on the 12th

I mean I have a bunch of questions regarding if we do move, like seeing the level of inactivity in the guild recently, won't us moving kind of really thin out our numbers and lose people who are/were very attached to the guild. I mean I know it is probably unavoidable and its 100% the responcibility of each person who wants to stay part of the guild, but at the same time it sucks to think of loosing people, even if they have been inactive for a while.

If we do move, what is the plan for KCR? Try to move that over too, or just gather up people who transfer alts?

While I fully totally agree with waiting to see exactly how this plays out before we make a descision. Do we know how long the transfers will be offered for?

I fully support waiting the extra week and seeing how things work out. Currently Shien is a complete ghost town, and most nights we're lucky if there's 6 or 7 people on in the guild. While I really enjoy the game, I enjoy the people I play this game with even more and I do not want to move without knowing that we are all moving and even more importantly, all going to the same place.

I'm all for waiting an extra week or so.

I know I haven't been on much lately, but that will be changing soon! I promise! Aside from simply taking a break from TOR, I've been to visiting family and such (something I've neglected to do for months) and am finally free that trivial matter... Heh.

I'm fine with waiting as I will honestly still be MIA during that time anyways.

I am more then happy to wait a week or longer if needed. I personally would love to stay with the guild, reguardless of the server. However, something that shuld be said it was said by the GM's that depending on quantity of people moving to certain servers, a full guild may not be able to move together. Some servers may fill up quicker and thus some people may get into a certain server while others cant. If we want to stay together we should look at that very carefully.

I'm going to purposefully avoid answering any questions based on the move if/when it happens solely because all the important information - the duration of the moves, and which servers will be available for moving from or to - is unknown and will be so until the 12th. Furthermore, they have mentioned that these servers will actively shift throughout the moving process. I have no doubt that Bioware will continue to update us on which servers will be included, and when server transfers will be closing. The only reason they would prevent us from moving OFF of Shien is if a) it remains a destination server, or b) it fills up with people and Bioware is happy with its population levels. In both cases our problem is solved. Furthermore, waiting a while will also allow the queues and populations to level out after everyone scrambles for their first choices, allowing us to make a more educated decision, as well as enabling us to move a large population of players without worrying about some being denied halfway through the move due to large population shifts.

As for logistics, those will be discussed in detail if Shien empties out. Fear not, I am not blinding stumbling my way through this thing, everyone. I've done a lot of thinking.

Thanks for your faith in me.

Shien is not yet listed as an eligible origin server - there are no RP servers selected yet, either. Server types must be the same for transfers, so do not expect to see any new people. Yet.

I will keep watching that page, and report any changes I see.

A couple of RP servers opened up, but Shien is neither a destination or origin server. I'm guessing they're going to slowly open more and more up over the next few days to try to keep a steady flow through the transfer serves.

Jetalon raises an excellent point. This is a problem that will naturally solve itself. Either we'll be an origin server and Shien will fold, or we'll be a destination server and Shien will become what it used to be again. Either way, our course should be pretty obvious.

Still doing the wait a week thing, or hopping over? (glad i made name holder toons on ebon hawk as well)

Also, saw on swtor-rp's shien site that the plan is to have a /shien channel on the destination server to stay organized/in touch with the shien rp community.

My folks over on Strong Female Pose (Imp Side) are already making the move. Just to put my two cents in, I strongly favor transferring as soon as everyone is ready.

Alright, everyone. Thanks for your patience. Here's what I'm thinking.

Waiting to see how the server populations would fluctuate was an idea I had given that Bioware would give more player-choice into the migrations. As it stands, they seem to be shepherding their players into more streamlined, per-determined server groups. Two East Cost RP servers are being funneled into Ebon Hawk, and the only reason to remain on Shien would be for sentimental reasons. As much as I have enjoyed the Shien community, there is little to no reason to stay here any longer.

So the only choice then remains to see if we will be moving immediately, or waiting. Moving immediately ensures most of us will likely end up on the destination server Bioware has in mind - and hopefully a much bigger population. However, I worry that Bioware may close off the server for incoming transfers in the near future.

On that note, I would like to encourage everyone who wishes to stay with the Vanguard to initiate their transfer as soon as they possibly can. The wait queues do not seem overlong - about an hour or so - and the bugs have already been worked out, according to Bioware's patch over last night. If some stragglers get left behind... well... I apologize, but I cannot account for every person who wishes to remain active. Hopefully, Bioware will not close the transfers any time soon, and anyone wishing to make the move who does not check the website or login daily will get the chance. Other than that, it's up to the individual to remain updated.

To transfer, log on to the SWTOR website and click the 'Character Transfer' link - it should be the first one on the left sidebar. As a precaution, I wouldn't log on at all during the process. Go eat some lunch, watch a movie, or do it overnight if you cannot bear to stay logged off of SWTOR for an hour. Some people said they could log on to other characters while one was being moved, but personally I can find something else to do for an hour and would rather not take the risk.

Once on Ebon Hawk, /cjoin TCV again and ask for an invite. We should have the Vanguard formed tonight, once some of our transfers go through. Also, you may want to /cjoin Shien, in case you wish to catch up with any friends from our home server.

For those of you wishing to stay on Shien, I wish you the best of luck, and welcome you wholeheartedly to remain in touch with us on the website. We will miss any who decide to stay.

I wish you all a safe and uneventful move.

If anyone has yet to move, please let me know before you do. It looks like the guild bank itself will be granted upon making a new guild, but the items will NOT be. Yay for Bioware and their penchant to be completely ambiguous. So if you have a toon with some empty bag/bank space, please contact me BEFORE you move to ferry some of the more valuable items over.

Thanks.
